Supermodel Stephanie Seymour opens up about the death of son Harry Brant (2023)

Supermodel Stephanie Seymore has spoken out about the devastating loss of her celebrity son Harry Brant - as she posed in his clothes for her first photoshoot since he tragically died of an accidental drug overdose in 2021.

Stephanie, 54, who was one of the most popular supermodels in the '80s and '90s - she posed for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit and Vogue and became one of themGeheimnis victories's famous angel -lost her son Harry at the age of 24after a long battle with drug addiction.

She has now returned to work for the first time since his sudden death and graces the cover ofWSJ. magazinein a special suit Harry picked out as a child, and admitted to the outlet that being in front of the lens again "helped her with her grief."

Stephanie said that Harry had a knack for fashion from a young age and would love to help choose her outfits as a child.

"He went through everything, vintage, everything, put everything on the floor," she recalled to WSJ.

She once said he picked a blue vintage Christian Dior dress with matching Manolo Blahnik pumps for her to wear to a parent-teacher conference.

"I said, 'Harry, I can't wear a vintage couture dress to a parent-teacher conference.' And he would say, 'Why not?'

The supermodel also loved going shopping with her children, and she said there was a time Harry spotted a Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane suit that he fell in love with and just had to have.

Since his death, Stephanie said she left the suit "hanging in her dressing room" as a special reminder of him.

One night she decided to try it on - and was stunned to discover that it fit her perfectly.

She's now worn it for the WSJ photoshoot, something she thinks he would have "loved".

"It's a suit that I always hang in my dressing room, it's this big space where I keep all my stuff. I do my makeup there. I live in this room,' she explained. "I looked at this suit one night and said, 'I'm going to wear it.' It suited me.

"If I think Harry would love something, I do it, and it helps with my grief. It still feels so good to get dressed.”

One of the photos from the shoot showed her in the pants of the glittery Saint Laurent suit with no top.

She used the suit's jacket to cover her breasts and her son's name, Harry, was written on her back.

According to the 54-year-old, she wants others to start wearing Harry's clothes in photoshoots, a project she's now eagerly focusing on.

"I have this idea that I want to keep photographing his clothes because I think he would love it," she gushed.

“He has this whole herd of women who would love to wear his clothes and be photographed. I will be happy to do that.”

Stephanie married her husband, billionaire art collector Peter Brant, in 1995 and they had three children together - sons Peter Jr., born in 1993, and Harry, born in 1996, and daughter Lily, born in 2004.

He also had five children from a previous relationship and she had one, a baby boy named Dylan, from her first marriage to guitarist Tommy Andrews.

The photoshoot comes just weeks after the family spent the holiday away from Harry, and while Stephanie admitted it was "difficult," she said she was able to pull it off with the help of her children and grandchildren.

Their eldest son, Dylan, welcomed his own son, whom they named Harry after Dylan's late brother, in October. In addition, some of Peter's children have become parents.

“I try to just be present. For me with holidays, and I'm sure a lot of other people can relate to that, it's difficult now because I'm always thinking about what's missing," she admitted.

"But I'm really lucky. [We] have many grandchildren. And there is nothing that has helped me get through all of this more than my grandchildren.

"And a lot of people say, 'Well, they're not your grandkids. They are Peter's grandchildren.”

"But they don't feel that way, and neither do I. Nothing has given me more comfort than these kids calling me Grandma Stephanie."

Stephanie and Peter, 73, confirmed Harry's death in January 2021. He suffered an accidental prescription drug overdose just days before he was due to re-enter rehab.

"We will forever be saddened that his life was cut short by this devastating disease," the couple said in a statement at the time.

"Harry has accomplished a lot in his 24 years but we will never get the chance to see how much more he could have done."

"Harry was a creative, loving and powerful soul who brought light into the hearts of so many people. He really was a beautiful person inside and out.'

They added that he was a "pioneer in men's beauty and cosmetics products, collaborating with a major brand on a unisex cosmetics line."

Thanks to his famous mother, Harry, who grew up in elegant Greenwich, Connecticut, was a high-profile socialite who was close friends with numerous famous faces, including First Daughter Tiffany Trump.

Along with his older brother, Peter Jr., 29, the two gained attention in the fashion world for breaking gender norms and experimenting with their clothes and makeup.

In 2015, the pair partnered with MAC to launch Brant Brothers, a unisex makeup line.

New York Magazine once dubbed Harry and Peter Jr. "NYC's loveliest teenage brothers," while Vanity Fair dubbed them "Little Lord Flauntleroys."

Harry also had a regular column in Interview Magazine - the famous culture magazine started by Andy Warhol and now owned by his father Peter.

He has appeared in numerous magazines, including Italian Vogue, and in campaigns for fashion house Balmain.

Stephanie told WSJ that from a young age she knew Harry was special, revealing, "I remember when he was 12 I would take him to meetings and grown adults couldn't believe his brains and maturity."

“Steven Meisel loved him. Pat [McGrath] loved him. Everyone could see how special he was.”

Despite professional success, Harry had reportedly battled his drug addiction. In 2016, he was arrested after refusing to pay for a cab ride in Connecticut.

Officers were called to the scene, where they found the "bag of white matter in his wallet." He was charged with theft, disturbance of an officer and drug possession.

"I missed you today, but that's nothing new, I missed you a million times yesterday too," it said.

"I picked up my phone to tell you the news and then realized again that I can't text it to you. I've seen your bright smile at least 20 times and then I remember, it's all in my head.

"I drive with no presence, the world feels surreal, and then your song comes on and it doesn't seem real.

"I missed you today, but I miss you very much. Missing you is helpful, that's all I have. I wish I could drag you here for a while. I'm scared of losing the shape of your smile.

"I miss you today and I will miss you tomorrow. This sadness seems to have no end.

“I'm trying to move on because I know you care, I know you want me to move on from up there. I miss you today but I'm trying to find a way to move on but not leave you behind.

"A way to carry on with the love we had, a way to remember you and just... be happy."

AnWhat would have been his 26th birthdayin August, she also shared a selfie with her late son and wrote, "Happy Birthday Bebe."
