Getting from Faro Airport to Lagos can be a challenge if you have never done it before. I researched for hours before traveling to Lagos and everything I read online turned out to be wrong when I got there.

Although it takes around an hour by car, Faro Airport is actually the closest airportLagos, Portugal.

You can travel from Faro Airport to Lagos by car, bus or train, however these options vary drastically in duration, cost and availability.

Here is an overview of each option:

  • Taxi/Uber:1 hour, 85 € – 110 €, 24/7 availability (direct)
  • Bus: 2 hours, €15, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (direct)
  • Zug:2 hours, €10.25, from 7 a.m. to 8:50 p.m. (indirect)

Personally I think the best way to get from Faro to Lagos is thisBooking a private transfer.

Advance booking of a transfer ischeaperthan taking a taxi when you arrive and it is the most convenient and fastest option.

The train is the cheapest option overall, but it's not direct. You must first take a bus to the city center and from there take the train to Lagos, which is a bit cumbersome and long.

The bus is the best option if you are on a budget as it is not too expensive and goes directly from the airport to Lagos. However, it takes twice as long as a private transfer/taxi.

Below I will go into more detail on each of the above options and give you all the details you need to make a decision. I add prices, links to timetables, availability and much more.

As I said, I personally think the best way to get to Lagos from Faro airport is thisPre-order a private transfer.

This one hereis actually really good value for moneyfewerthan what you would pay for a conventional taxi.

Another bonus is that the transfer is there waiting for you when you arrive (no haggling with a driver who just tried to charge you triple the normal price!) and there is WiFi on board.

A private transfer from Faro Airport to Lagos is by far the easiest and most convenient option, so I would definitely recommend it if your budget allows.

It's also the fastest since it only takes timeone hour.

You save money by bus/train, but the journey takes twice as long as by carAndYou also have to lug around your suitcase.

The private transfer will drop you off right in front of your hotel and do the whole thingStrictly speakingfeel like on vacation.

How much does a transfer from Faro to Lagos cost?

With private transfers, all you have to do is pay around80 €for a normal car. This should be suitable for a group of up to 4 people.

As I said, this is much cheaper than a standard taxi. Another bonus is that you don't have to look for a taxi when you arrive.

The driver will be waiting for you with a sign with your name on it so you can board straight away and start your vacation.

Another way to get to Lagos from Faro is by taxi. This is a great option if you haven't booked a transfer in advance.

There are usually plenty of taxis waiting around the airport terminal when you arrive, all happy to take you to Lagos. The ride will take aboutone hour.

Taxis are also a good option if you arrive in Faro at an unusual time. The trains and buses don't run all night, so you'll have to take a taxi if you're late.

You can also take an Uber from Faro Airport to Lagos, which I think is a better option as it's easier than a traditional taxi (more on that later).

Taking a taxi is definitely one of the best ways to travel from Faro Airport to Lagos as it is really relaxing and convenient. You will also be dropped off right in front of your hotel.

Taxi cost from Faro airport to Lagos

The price of a taxi from Faro airport to Lagos is between€85 and €110.

The main disadvantage of taking a taxi is that it is the most expensive option. You also usually have to haggle with the driver as they often try to charge tourists ridiculous prices.

Personally, I wouldn't pay more than €110. If a driver doesn't agree with this, find another one as they are trying to scam you.

Is there Uber at Faro airport?

Yes, both Uber and Bolt are available at Faro Airport.

I personally use Bolt when traveling in Portugal as it's really reliable, easy to use and I've always found the drivers to be very professional and friendly.

I checked the faro faro airport to Lagos fare and he quoted me95 €.

It should also cost a similar amount for Uber. Uber/Bolt are great options because you don't have to worry about overcharging and you can just order the car when you're ready.

There are always plenty of drivers in the area, so you only have to wait a few minutes to be picked up.

Buses from Faro Airport to Lagos

Taking the bus from Faro Airport to Lagos is one of the cheapest options, so ideal for travelers on a budget, but it takes a long time.

There is a shuttle bus service available at the airport that will take you directly from the airport to Lagos.

I actually used the shuttle bus on my recent trip to Lagos and found it very comfortable and good value.

There are 2 bus companies that offer a bus service directly from the airport:EvaAndAlsa.

Alsa-Bus

The Alsa bus from Faro airport to Lagos has 2 departures per day. These are at 11:45 am and 5:45 pm.

A single journey costs15 €and the journey lasts2 hours.

You can book your ticket for this bus in advanceWaterwhich I have used several times. It's super easy to use and offers great prizes.

These buses depart directly from the airport and arrive at the main bus station in Lagos (Lagos Terminal Rodoviário).

This bus stop is right in the center of town so you can probably walk to your hotel from here. I did and it only took 4 minutes! (I was inTivoli LagosBy the way).

Eva Bus

Eva Line 56 also runs from Faro Airport to Lagos.

The bus schedule varies by day and month, but there are usually 5 departures per day.

On average, the bus departs approximately every 2 hours between 9:30am and 6:30pm.

tickets cost15 €and the bus takes about 2 hours.

You cannot book the Eva bus in advance. So if you choose this option, you will need to purchase your ticket either upon boarding or at the ticket office at the airport.

I bought my ticket at the airport and the process was pretty easy. I was really lucky that when I arrived the next bus was leaving within the next 15 minutes as you could end up waiting up to 2 hours.

The bus departs from Faro Airport, listed as "Aeroporto Faro" in the timetable, and arrives at Lagos Central Bus Station, listed as "Lagos (Terminal Rodoviário)".

Bus times vary depending on whether the university is open or closed, the day of the week, and the time of year. So use the button at the end of the timetable to find out which times apply.

Take the bus to Faro center

Another option is to take the bus from the airport to Faro city center and from there take a bus to Lagos.

This option takes a lot longer than the direct buses discussed above and of course requires you to change buses, which can be a bit of a hassle.

However, it might be a good option for you if you end up having to wait a few hours for the next shuttle bus to Lagos.

TheBus no. 16operated by Próximo runs from Faro Airport to Faro Central Station. This journey takes about 20 minutes.

This bus leaves approximately every 30 to 50 minutes and tickets cost €2.25. You can buy the ticket from the driver.

From Faro Central Bus Station you now need to board the Eva bus line 57 to Lagos, which takes around 2 hours.

There are about 7 departures daily between 8:00 a.m. and 7:40 p.m. You can view theDetailed timetable here. Please note that there are only 2 departures on weekends.

You depart from Faro Terminal Rodoviário (the first pick-up point) and arrive in Lagos, the last stop. The bus costs around €6.

Train from Faro Airport to Lagos

The last option to get to Lagos from Faro Airport is by train.

This option is a bit cumbersome as there is no train station at the airport.

This means that you have to take the bus from Faro airport to Faro city center and from there you can take the train to Lagos.

You can use the...Bus no. 16to get to the city center from the airport (I have given all the information in the bus section of this post). The bus takes 20 minutes.

Luckily, the train station in Faro is right next to the bus station, so it only takes a few minutes to walk.

The train from Faro to Lagos has between 10 and 13 departures throughout the day so there is plenty to choose from that should suit you.

The earliest train leaves around 07:00 and the last train leaves around 20:50.

The train goes around1 hour 45 minutesto get to Lagos and most of them are direct. There are a few where you will have to change trains in the city of Tunes, but these are less common.

You check the current train times and book your ticketWater. It's really easy to use (I've used it a lot).

As said, this option is a bit cumbersome, especially if you have a lot of luggage, as you have to take a bus and then a train.

However, there are many departure times so it might be quicker than waiting for the direct bus from the airport to Lagos (they only run once every 2 hours).

How much does the train from Faro Airport to Lagos cost?

In total, the journey from Faro Airport to Lagos by train costs10,25 €which actually makes it the cheapest option.

The number 16 bus that you need to take from the airport to the city center costs €2.25 and then the train from Faro to Lagos costs €8 one way.
