Despite a challenging relationship with his father, Bruce Springsteen, The Boss, promised to be a better father to his three children. Luckily, he understood his father and buried the hatchet. Now the singer is happy to raise a loving family as an exemplary father and grandfather.

The lead singer of the E Street Band was born on September 23, 1949 in Long Branch, NJ to working-class parents. His mother, Adele, worked as a secretary in an insurance company, while his father, Douglas, did not have a steady job. He worked in a mill and a prison and later drove a bus.
Consequently, Adele's income kept the family going. While Bruce enjoyed his passion for music, his relationship with his father was challenging. However, many years later he forgave his father and became a better role model for his three children.

His romance with his longtime wife Patti Scialfa began in 1988. Scialfa was fascinated by his music as a teenager and they eventually bonded over a love of great songs - she became part of his singing band.

Bruce was deeply impressed by his father's attitude and only found solace in music. Interestingly, while making music, he began to bask in what he rebelled against.
At the time, Bruce had just divorced Julianne Phillips, but the newly divorced couldn't hide his attraction to his bandmate. Before tying the knot, the unlikely couple welcomed their first child, Evan, in 1990.

The following year, they exchanged vows and added a daughter, Jessica, to their family. The couple waited three years before giving birth to their youngest son, Sam.
The rock 'n' roll legend has a seemingly perfect family, including a wife with a similar passion for music and supportive children. They have attended numerous red carpet events and music concerts throughout his career.
On the other hand, the singer was practical and returned the love and attention he received from his children. Despite his commitment to music, the "Dancing in the Dark" singer is never far from his offspring.

Bruce and Scialfa's only daughter is a professional rider; More than once the couple was there to cheer them on from the stands. In 2020, the singer made headlines for being a proud father to his youngest son Sam, who was sworn in as a firefighter. Bruce occupied the front row during the ceremony.
Although he seems to be great at fatherhood, Bruce struggled because of his childhood and previous relationship with his father. The father-of-three feared being a chip off the old block, which influenced his determination to improve. In a refreshingly honest tone he saiddivided:
"There were a lot of mistakes I didn't want to make. I guess the way you look at it, I don't want my kids having to dig their way out of my hole. They will have their own hole to dig themselves out of. So as a parent, do your best not to put too much of your own [expletive] on them.

Bruce became a grandpa in July after his youngest child Sam had a daughter with his mistress. Scialfa shared the happy news via an Instagram post showing the new parents behind a stroller; youjoked:

This isn't the first time Sam has put a smile on his parents' faces. Previously, Bruce spoke enthusiastically about his son's achievement as a firefighter after being sworn in in 2020. The proud fathergroomed:

Bruce Springsteen's relationship with his father was redefined
In his 2016 release Born to Run, the singer explained that his personality as a young man angered his father — Bruce didn't inherit Douglas' rugged nature or his face. Although his mother showed sympathy, his father did not sympathize with who he was.

As head of the family, Douglas often sat in the kitchen, drinking and thinking. Most of the time he was angry, making it almost impossible for happiness to radiate around the house whenever he was around.

Thankfully, Bruce didn't resent his father, and while he didn't understand his pain at the time, he never blamed him for it. Thankfully, before Bruce became a dad, Douglas issued a heartfelt apology after a visit to his Los Angeles home.
According to the singer, this became "the greatest moment" of his life. Hewritten down, "Here in the last days before I became a father, my own father visited me."

A few years after the visit, the rock star revealed that his father had been suffering from a mental illness before his death. Douglas was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. while doing thisBrucebetter understand his childhood, he was consumed by fear. In hisWords:
"I've gotten close enough [to mental illness] where I know I'm not entirely okay myself. I've had to deal with a lot of these over the years... So we have to be careful in our family. I have to take care my kids and I was lucky there. It ran well before my father in my family.”
Amid his fear of inheriting the mental illness, The Boss is actively trying to be a perfect father to his children and so far there has been no controversy about his family life. At the same time, he has successfully coped with fame and family life without allowing either of them to suffer.
